SPEC is named after the former project Spec Temporary Spaces. SPEC is an A.R.I. specializing in one-night-only and short-term exhibitions promoting experimental sounds and emerging artists. Events include gigs, performances and exhibitions. Members include founding Co-director Alex Cuffe and Co-Director Helen Rogers
SPEC was first started by Alex Cuffe on Stanley St South Bank mid 2008. During this time the space showed over 25 artists. This was done with no funding or outside assistance. The Gallery closed once the building was bought up by the Expanding MATER hospital and was then demolished.
